Every Knee Will Bow
Life can be hard. There are days of touble, of pain, of pressure; of debt, of health problems, of family, marital and emotional strifes.
But our comfort is in Jesus Christ. The battle is already won. Jesus Christ has won the victory, the eternal victory over sin and death and hell. There is nothing in His way, for all things have been subjected to Him, all things are put under His feet. He it is who is the unquestionable King over all.
The evidence is plain. Jesus’ death–and the circumstances surrounding it–were clearly foretold in the Hebrew Old Testament of the Bible many hundreds of years before it happened. See for yourself.
A crucified Lord Jesus
Foretold:
“For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.” (Palms 22:16) and
“And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.” (Zechariah 12:10)
Fulfilled:
“And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.” (Mark 15:25)
Both of the above scriptures tell specifically of the piercing of the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ; HUNDREDS of years before the Roman empire’s conquering Israel and installing as law it’s most brutal method of execution; the cross.
They gambled for Christ’s clothing
Foretold:
“They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.” (Psalms 22:18)
Fulfilled:
” And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.” (Matthew 27:35)
Jesus was Foretold as Dying for Our Sins
Foretold:
“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:3-6
Fulfilled;
“Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.” (John 19:1)
Jesus was Silent in His Own Defense
Foretold:
“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.” (Isaiah 53:7)
Fulfilled:
“And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.” (John 19:9)
You don’t have tomorrow to decide.
You’ll be off to other things by then. A choice to decide later might seem like you haven’t made a decision AGAINST Jesus, but you have. After all, you have no more time than the next person. Many people all over the world, in this country and in your own town will die tonight; most of them will not want to and none of them will know precisely the hour of their death. Are you any different?
Choose Jesus; choose Life as you have never known it. Everyone here at Community Bible wants to see you in heaven, to know that in some way, this effort we’re making meant something to you. But as much as we want you to choose Jesus, there is One who wants you to choose Him even more than us; the Son of God, Jesus Christ Himself. You see, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. That means before we chose Him, before we ever knew we would choose Him and certainly before we ever began to behave in a way that would lead others to conclude that we would choose Him–before all that, He died for us. He made the decision, He paid the price; Jesus Christ walked the long, painful, lonely walk up Calvary’s Hill to be crucified; and being who He was, He thought of you. He was willing to choose you and pay ALL HE HAD for you, LONG before you or I were able to choose Him. Because He loved you and loved His Father God, who loved you.
But one thing He will NOT do; He won’t FORCE you to choose Him.
You and I must choose for ourselves. We must decide what to do with Jesus. We have already decided to choose Him as our Lord and as our Saviour. We are so glad we did and we encourage you to join that great family of undeserving, but still blessed believers. Choose Jesus. Choose Him now.
“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” Colossians 2:13-15
